2020 - 2021
Placing in the pictures for the slideshow that goes to the right of this text has really made me realize how much I’ve done in a year. Since the last year in review I began a new job, purchased my own Mill, converted it to CNC, worked on two different 15 lbs. robots, began making a lot more videos for my YouTube channel, and just recently took home 1st place and best engineered at the 2021 Rage in the Cage tournament. Looking back its amazing I had any time for schoolwork at all.
Since the last year in review, I’ve had one academic semester, and one coop semester. There really isn’t much to say about the academic one, I got all A’s and knocked some more classes out. The only truly difficult class was once again Math, but I should be all done with math classes now! My coop semester went very smooth as well. I began a new job with a defense contractor here in Ohio, and have continued working there even during my academic semester. This summer, I’ll be back to working full time with them. I hope to continue to publish more videos to my YouTube channel, and potentially complete one or two more honors experiences this summer dealing with mill and robot upgrades. |
The largest and most far-reaching honors experience I’ve done so far has definitely been the CNC Bridgeport. For the projects I work on, a CNC mill opens up so many new doors that I simply didn’t have before for new projects, improvements, and concepts that I simply didn’t have the time to do before. I’ve recently began acquiring hardware and materials to construct a 4th axis rotary table for my machine, even further opening up the possibilities of parts that I am able to design and create myself.
Ironically, the newest 15 lbs. robot I’m creating should involve very little machining. My dad recently bought a tig welder capable of doing aluminum for our shop, and I plan to make good use of this to create a waterjet cut and tig welded chassis for the newest robot (using the waterjet at the 1819 innovation hub). This new chassis will be paired with the weapon disk from my most popular video yet to create a devastating 4wd vertical spinner. I hope to have this new robot constructed in time for competition this fall, which probably means two honors experiences on the fabrication and assembly of it. |
