2022-2023
Recap time! Since last year’s honors recap, I’ve done a bit of reorganizing on the website in order to support my new “recr.us” website that I’ve been building up over the past year. This website, and the products and services behind it have been a massive investment of my time and effort over the past year.
The high quality designs and products I’ve produced for customers have been used in some of the top robots in the field. Most recently, my friend and fellow UC alumni Jake Hoffman won the 12lb class with his robot Maximizer, utilizing many of my components and designed parts. My eventual goal for RE Combat Robotics and team RECR is to at least support the cost of my hobby, and eventually become a full time job. While it’s definitely a lofty ambition, I believe it’s possible with the demand for high quality parts that I’ve seen in the field. As for my progress at UC, I honestly don’t remember a lot of the classes that I’ve taken since last year. I haven’t failed anything, which is nice, but a lot of my effort at UC has gone into coaching the UC Combat Robotics club. |

Last year I had a very hands-off role in the club. This past year however, I’ve been very active in coaching a much larger team of students in the club. In March, UC Combat Robotics was able to field five 12lb robots and two 3lb robots, over triple what any previous year has been able to do. This has been another huge ontake for myself and has eaten away much of my time.
Moving forward into my last three semesters at UC, I’ve got a couple of key things going for me. This summer, I’m working at a defense contractor in Beavercreek Ohio and am actually writing this recap while on a work trip in Atlanta. Fall 2023 and Spring of 2024 will primarily be focused on my senior design project. I’m not 100% sure what this will be yet, but most likely will revolve around building another robot with my younger brother Cale, who’s also in the same grade as I am at UC. It’ll be a nice break to step away from the coaching aspect of robotics some, and just focus on developing something cool for tech expo. |
